Fraxinella, a strong-smelling bushy plant with loose spires of
white flowers that give off an inflammable vapor; (c) the artillery
plant, Pilea serpyllifolia.
2. The emblem
adopted by the Presbyterian churches of Scotland in memory of the persecutions
of the seventeenth century, and in allusion to the appearance of God
to Moses in the blazing bush. The legend is Nec tamen consumebatur,
"yet not consumed."
